Celebrating a shared future
RMIT University were looking to commission the creation of a wall facade that is a backdrop to the Ngarara Place, RMITs external Indigenous Courtyard.
This artwork was created to visually express a diverse environment that is nurtured at RMIT University. The design features a centralised symbol of a person, that is inspired by voice, sovereignty and self-determination of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people that work, live and study at RMIT University. The central figure is inter-connected through seven surrounding shapes that link back to the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander origins across the country. The seven shapes also represent the seven seasons of the Kulin Nation, connecting to Country on which RMIT University stands.
